Student Programs

The Institute of Fluorescence is happy to accommodate Undergraduate Students who are looking to gain research experience OR as part of there degree course under the Umbrella of a “Year Abroad”. Several Students have already spent 6-12 months undertaking cutting-edge research in the IoF as part of their degree courses and have successfully moved onto Ph.D. programs and Industry.

Internships are available for varying lengths of time and available throughout the year. Degree credit is also possible and should be discussed with our Institute manager. Internships are research (laboratory based) and in-line with current research in the IoF.

Doctoral Students:

The University of Maryland Biotechnology Institute is not a degree granting institution and therefore Ph.D. programs are not directly accessible in the IoF. However, the IoF can accommodate students wishing to spend a period of their degree course in the IoF, in collaboration with an external or foreign university.

Visiting Scientists and Sabbaticals:

The Institute of Fluorescence has accommodated several visiting scientists previously for periods of up to 1 year. For further information on a particular program then please contact either the director or Institute manager directly.
